Kinfolk Magazine – Volumes 3 & 4

From the moment I came across this Kinfolk manifesto on a busy weekday morning I was smitten. As my life becomes more and more involved with artists, professionals and people around the world, I feel so grateful for the benefits social media & other technologies afford us as a global artistic community. How many times I’ve made a friend or connection through one of the many outlets I use and for this I feel so excited about the current state of things and where it’s headed.
Yet, sometimes I find my head spinning…..completely overwhelmed by all the stimulation, connections and inspirations. At times, this amazing ability we have to connect can also feel isolating and stressful at the same time. I stumbled across Kinfolk at a moment when I found the concept of balancing the chaos of my online, abroad, social, professional, personal and artistic lives to be quite overwhelming. Kinfolk felt like a warm fuzzy blanket wrapped around my slightly psychotic shoulders, reminding me that it’s ok to be still, be quiet and just stop for a moment to inhale, to appreciate the beauty of the artful life I have around me right at home.
This seems to be a sentiment shared by a growing community and although I can’t speak for the large quantities of people across the globe that have embraced Kinfolk I feel connected to them in some small way. I love this about the Kinfolk community and about the broader scope of art in life…….it’s ability to unify, inspire and comfort us. From day one of my involvement I’ve felt energized and so excited to be part of not only a beautiful magazine but also a gathering of beautiful minds.
The story I shot for Volume 4, available for pre-order now, was featured on my journal here. For Volume 3 I shot a breakfast editorial and have included some of my favorites from that shoot below. This is a long overdue thank you to those I’ve had the pleasure of working with on these assignments. I so look forward to watching this magazine and community grow.

[...] So today in the wee morning hours as the sun was dancing in my kitchen, I walked barefoot out in the garden and gathered some of my beloved mother’s elderflower and got to work inspired by the new volume of Kinfolk magazine that this dear friend showed a peak of today. [...]
I adore Kinfolk, and I feel blessed to have found other people who enjoy slowing down and drinking in the beautiful world around us. And your work is lovely!
